Restaurant Review: Hot Stacks Pancake House in Myrtle Beach, SC

Most traveling vegans are often confined to their hotel rooms at breakfast time. If you're lucky enough to stay in a condo with a full kitchen, it's manageable. But when you're on vacation, you don't always want to be preparing a meal for the family. So you can only imagine how excited I was to find a restaurant in Myrtle Beach that offers vegan breakfast menu items.

Hot Stacks Pancake House has three locations in Myrtle Beach. However, it is only the restaurant located at 9707 N Kings Hwy 17, Myrtle Beach, SC that offers vegan items. This location is on a strip of Myrtle Beach known as "Restaurant Row".

We went there on a weekday and it wasn't too crowded. We were seated right away. My daughter ordered Vegan Blueberry Silver Dollar Pancakes which came with organic maple syrup. My son, who is not a fan of blueberries, wanted pancakes with strawberries. This was a special request. The plain Silver Dollar Pancakes were also vegan.

The children devoured their pancakes in no time at all. I was able to have a small bite of my son's pancakes and they were very tasty.

For myself, I ordered a Shamrock Breakfast Sandwich. It comes with a vegan breakfast sausage patty, tomato, avocado, kale, spicy mayo (also vegan) all on a whole wheat bun. It also came with a bowl of fruit on the side. It was a so delicious!! I was pleasantly satisfied after eating the sandwich and fruit bowl (which was shared with my children).

My husband and in-laws were also with us, but they ordered non-vegan menu items. My in-laws each had a Belgian waffle and my husband ordered a big plate with pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausage.

Hot Stacks Pancake House not only has vegan breakfast items, they also have a number of vegan lunch items! I was unable to return to the restaurant to sample their lunch menu, but they are always posting mouth-watering pictures of vegan burgers on their Facebook page.

Are You Gluten-Free?

I was happy to discover was that they have many gluten-free items on their menu. While I have no issues with gluten, I know many who do, so if you're in need of gluten-free pancakes while on vacation, I highly recommend this place!
